Commission Process

Every commission results in two new paintings…

General Process:

We will set a color palette, dimensions, and surface (wood, canvas, paper), before I start. It is helpful to have photos of the space where the painting will hang, but it is not required. You can also choose 3-5 pieces of my previous work that resonates with you the most (also helpful but not required). This will help me narrow down the feeling and look you would like to achieve. Size and colors are important yet the feeling and mood is the most critical thing to be worked out and probably where I will spend the most time planning with you as it’s not always easy to put into words. Not to worry, if you cannot hone in on the suggested items above, I have a lot of other tricks up my sleeve to help you land on the right direction.

I will swatch out the palette colors in paint for you before I start. I will show you the piece when I am about 75% finished for approval or alternatively, any minor adjustments that may need to be made as the painting is finished.

Do you need a specific size and palette but otherwise you are completely open ended on the painting? Or, or are you looking for a painting on the more abstract end of my range? If so, I will paint two paintings to ensure that the end result is fresh and intuitive. You or your client get to choose which one becomes finished when we arrive at that 75% mark!

Payment and Timeline:

A 60% nonrefundable deposit is due before I begin work, and the other 40% before delivery. The commission process takes approximately eight weeks, but can be completed faster if needed.
